Salman is a very positive person: Swara Bhaskar

New Delhi: Praising superstar Salman Khan’s positivity, actress Swara Bhaskar says her co-star from “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” made her feel at ease during the shooting of the upcoming film.

The actress is playing Salman’s sister in the family drama revolving around sibling rivalry, which will mark the directorial comeback of Sooraj Barjatya after a gap of nine years.

“Salman is a very positive person. He is fun to be around.

He has been very good to me. He helped me a lot during the shoots and eases me,” Swara told PTI.

The actress attributed Barjatya for helping her shed her cynicism and said the environment on the sets is akin to Rajshri films – “family-like and happy”.

“It has been lovely shooting this film. Rajshri Productions are really like their films. They are actually those people who believe in family values… they are very good people.

“I am a very cynical and critical person and I say it with a lot of honesty and frankness that Sooraj Barjatya’s goodness disarms my cynicism. He is definitely one of the best human beings I have worked with,” she said.

Swara revealed that a month-long shoot of the film is still left and will resume in June, adding the schedule has not been hampered by the latest developments in Salman’s court case.

Her next big screen outing is Aanand L Rai’s “Tanu Weds Manu Returns” in which she will be seen reprising the role of Kangana Ranaut’s friend, Payal.

In the sequel, she has an extended guest appearance, which Swara said she accepted because of the bond she shares with the director.

“Kangana is in a double role, then there is Madhavan. So, I never expected anything from this role other than a gesture of friendship and coming back to something you have known as an actor. Aanand is a director who has given me my identity in Bollywood. I would never say no to him.

“Besides I have a lot of faith in writer Himanshu (Sharma) and I know he would never waste an actor. So, there was no apprehension,” said the actress, who was also in Rai’s “Raanjhanaa”.

“Tanu Weds Manu Returns” will hit theatres on May 22.

Swara said her role might be smaller in the upcoming film compared to the original, but her story track runs parallel to that of the female lead’s and helps to take the film forward.

“In this film you catch my character at a different point of her life. The film has a revelation about her character.

Her plot is important because physically she takes the story forward. And in terms of her own track, it is an interesting parallel to what is happening in Tanu’s life,” Swara said.

Other than “Tanu Weds Manu Returns”, the actress will be seen in “Nil Bate Sannata”, which has been directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, wife of filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari.
