POONCH: Salil Raina and Sandeep Luthra bagged men’s doubles title in the 22nd District Open Table Tennis Championship held under the banner of District Table Tennis Association, here.
In the title clash, Salil and Sandeep defeated Bhanu and Paropkar in straight sets of 11-9, 11-4, 11-8. The men’s singles title went to Faisal Mir, who outplayed Salil Raina in a nail biting finish 3-2 (9-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9, 11-8).
The veteran’s singles final won by Narinder Singh (PEM), who beat Prof J.S Vir in straight sets 11-9, 11-9, 11-5.
In the final and valedictory function, Principal of Government Degree College, Poonch, Prof Tejinder Singh was Chief Guest, who gave away the winners and runners-up trophies.
Earlier, President of the District Association, Ajeet Singh Jeet informed the gathering about the competition. He appealed to the district administration to complete the ongoing construction work at the indoor complex at the earliest.
Among others present were Prof Jasbir Singh, Prof Kamaljeet Singh, Prof Khadam Hussain, Mukesh Kumar NIS Coach, Ramesh Kumar and Avinash Bhalla.
