Sainik School Nagrota bags KCPS Mega Quiz trophy

JAMMU: Sainik School, Nagrota bagged the third edition of Mega Quiz 2014 oragnised by KC Public School, whereas the host school remained runners-up. A total of nine schools took part in the third edition the quiz for Central Board of School education (CBSE) school on Wednesday. The contest was launched by KC Public School in 2012.
This is the second inter-school annual event KCPS has initiated, the first being the Shakuntala Devi Inter-School Basketball Tournament launched in 2011.
The schools taking part in the quiz were the host school KC Public School, KC International School, Heritage School, Jodhamal Public School, Sainik School Nagrota, APS Akhnoor, APS Nagrota, APS Damana and Presentation Convent.
The quiz began with an innings round in which all the nine teams answered four questions each as parts of three pools containing three teams each.
At the end of this round, one team from each pool got eliminated on the basis of lowest score.
The remaining six teams then moved on to the quarter final stage with only two teams in each pool.
After answering four questions each at this stage, three teams made it to the semi finals on the basis of their scores.
The race for the final stage turned intense with the degree of difficulty in the questions going several notches higher. Eventually, Sainik School Nagrota and hosts KC Public School made it to the finals.
In a highly charged atmosphere, the finalists vied with each other in getting the right answers and, in the long run, Atal Sudan and Gurdeep Singh of Sainik School Nagrota emerged quizzing champions of Quiz-Zone 2014.
The runners-up from KC Public School were Tushar Mahajan and Eklavya Gupta.
Principal of KC Public School, Amarendra Kumar Mishra distributed certificates to all the participants and also presented the champions’ trophy to Sainik School Nagrota.
He commended all the schools for their keen interest in quizzing and congratulated the winners.
