KARGIL: The SAI SAG Centre Kargil lifted the overall trophy in the Eighth Taekwondo Championship securing 19 gold, six silver and four bronze medals in the District Taekwondo Championship held at Auditorium Hall, here.
Overall second place went to AITA Kargil with 18 gold, four silver and 10 bronze medals while STC Kargil remained third with six gold, an equal number of silver and five bronze medals. Earlier, around 80 players, representing five different clubs of the district, turned up for the competition which was organised by District Kargil Taekwondo Association.
Chairman J and K Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali was Chief Guest while Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Haji Gulzar Hussain was Guest of Honour and Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Kacho Turab Shah was Special Guest.
To make an interesting closing, young players presented demo fights, sparing, kicking and breaking techniques.
President of the Association, Gulzar Hussain Munshi briefing the gathering, presented a detailed report of the achievements amidst projecting of demands in the form of a memorandum to the chief guest.
Interacting with the players and students, Haji Anayat Ali encouraged those young boys and girls.
Appreciating the achievements the Chief Guest issued instructions to the Deputy Commissioner for preparing the DPR to construct a Taekwondo Hall after identifying Land.
On this occasion, Depty SP Ishtiyaq Ahamd Kacho, Deputy Secretary Culture, Nazir Hussain, Coordinator NYK Aga Syed Sajjad, District Social Welfare Officer Aga Syed Jamal, Ajaz Hussain Munshi and the executive members of Kargil Taekwondo Association were also present.
Later the Chief Guest and other guest presented medals and trophies amongst the players and concluded with the National Anthem.
