SAI to hold Taekwondo, Kayaking trials on July 11

JAMMU: As proposed by the J and K State Sports Council (JKSSC), the Sports Authority of India (SAI) shall be holding two-day selection trials for Extension Centre, Srinagar from 11th July. The selection trials shall be held in two sports disciplines of Taekwondo and Kayaking and Canoeing (water sports) under the guidance of the selection committee set up for the purpose, an order issued by the Deputy Director (Scheme) of the SAI, Ritu A Pathik said.
Incharge of the Extension Centre, Srinagar, Satish Sharma shall coordinate with the JKSSC for the smooth conduct of the selection process. However, the Selection Committee included Incharge STC Jammu, V.K Sharma, representative from JKSSC, Incharge of Extension Centre, Satish Sharma, coach of the concerned disciplines and international or outstanding sportspersons of the area. Important to mention here that efforts with regard to day-boarding schemes in these two disciplines were made by the Secretary, State Sports Council, Jawaid Ahmed Shah after Minister for Sports, Imran Raza Ansari expressed his desire to take benefit of the SAI schemes.
