JAMMU: Seeking cooperation of the civil society to avoid use of polythene during coming festivals this year, the Deputy Commissioner Jammu, A.K Sahu emphasised on making the festival days polythene free and also minimizing noise pollution. SSP Traffic Jammu, Pawan Parihar and other officers of civil and police administration attended the meeting.
While finalising the arrangements for Navratras, the deputy commissioner took stock of the preparations at Bahu Fort where the main function will be held and also at other venues. Deliberations were held for proper arrangements of cleanliness, sanitation, restoration of damaged roads around the temples, barricading, uninterrupted supply of water and electricity to ensure illumination and proper lighting in temples. Availability of medicare facilities including doctors and para-medical staff and fire tenders was also ensured.
It was apprised that this year no cultural programme will be held during the Navratras whereas the religious rituals would continue as per past practice.
Finalising the arrangements for Dussehra Festival, Sahu directed the concerned departments which mainly included JMC, PHE, PDD, CAPD, R&B, Fire Services, Traffic and Security to ensure that arrangements are put in place well before time. He also discussed arrangements enroute for the smooth conduct of the procession particularly traffic regulation and security.
Similarly, taking stock of Eid preparations, Sahu discussed the issues of cleanliness and sanitation at Eidgah and all other venues where Namaz-e-Eid is scheduled to be performed besides the entire city. JMC was directed to conduct regular market check to avoid profiteering and overcharging. The other arrangements like adequate supply of water, regular power supply, healthcare facilities, traffic and security arrangements, PAS, barricading were also discussed.
