Sagar, Jora, Mir visit flood affected areas

SRINAGAR: Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Urban Development, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Agriculture, G.H Mir on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of flood hit areas of the Srinagar city and took stock of the measures taken by government for relief and rehabilitation of flood victims.
Interacting with the people at different areas, the ministers assured them that government has already put in place mechanism for ensuring dewatering of the water logged areas, providing of free ration, restoring water supply schemes, electricity and connectivity of telecom services and roads is done on priority. They said that Chief Minister is personally monitoring and supervising the rescue and relief operations on hour to hour basis and has already passed instructions to the concerned to ensure that the life is restored within the shortest possible time.
They also informed the people that Srinagar city has been divided into three zones and senior officers have been put in charge to monitor the task.
They also assured the people that free ration will be provided for six months to the flood affected areas and directed CAPD to reach out to the people within next days.
The Health department has also been directed to make all hospitals fully functional and conducted medical camps in the flooded areas as early as possible. It was also informed that a camp office of Rural Development Department has also been made functional at B.K. Pora.
