SRINAGAR: The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Ali Mohammad Sagar on Saturday visited various areas of Budgam, Baramulla and outskirts of Srinagar city which include Mazahama, Kanihama, Magam, Beerwa, Kawoosa, Aru, Mirgund, Narbal, Singhpora, Mujgund, Pattan, Zanakote and took stock of the rescue and relief operations.
Sagar directed the officers to ensure that the safety of the people is ensured and the necessary steps are initiated to shift them to the safer places.
The minister also directed the revenue authorities to prepare a comprehensive report about the extent of the losses suffered after the rescue operations are completed.
Sagar directed the CAPD officers to provide ration to the affected people who have been evacuated to the safer places. He said that a comprehensive report should be prepared about the quantum of losses suffered by these people so that requisite amount of relief can be provided to them once their safety is ensured. He also directed the officers of Irrigation and Flood Control Department to closely monitor the situation on the ground so that an adequate feedback can be taken.
He appealed to the people to monitor situation themselves and coordinate with the government to address the problems.
Sagar directed the concerned officers to remain available to the people round the clock and monitor the situation on regular basis. He also asked them to respond to the distress calls of the people trapped in the floods within the shortest possible time, so that they can be taken to safer places.
