Safeguard interests of vulnerable children: SSP

JAMMU: Childline Jammu organized a workshop on ‘Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012’ followed by J&K Juvenile Justice Act, 2013.
On the occasion SSP, Jammu Dr. Sunil Gupta was the Chief Guest and Advocate Jyoti Sharma was the resource person.
While appreciating the initiatives taken by the Childline Jammu, SSP Jammu, Dr Sunil Gupta said that it is the collective responsibility of all the agencies concerned to save guard the interests of vulnerable children and give them all kind of support /protection.
However, he impressed upon all the police officers to take extra care and more human approach while dealing with children in distress etc. He also assured fullest cooperation in future endeavors of the Childline.
Advocate Jyoti laid emphasis on the implementation of JJ Act in J and K State in letter and spirit which is the need of the hour. She further laid emphasis on the set up of observation homes, shelter homes, special Juvenile Police units etc. She also focused on the protection of children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 which is yet to be implemented in J and K State. Government should take positive steps to implement the said Act in the State, he added.
R.C Puri, Regional Secretary Indian Red Cross Society while deliberating offered all kind of support from his office.
Manjari Singh, State In-charge highlighted the activities of Childline at national as well as State level.
Pinki Jain, Centre Coordinator delivered welcome address and Dinesh Gupta, Founder Director of Childline presented vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Sakshi Bali and S.C Bali.
