JAMMU: Civic Safaikaram-chari Union (CSU) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) gave a 15-day ultimatum to government to resolve the issues of Safaikaramcharis otherwise be ready to face wrath of the employees.
Talking to reporters here on Thursday, President CSU, Rinku Gill stated that number of times they met Municipal Commissioner and submitted their demands but no positive action has been taken by JMC administration. They stated that despite lapse of many months, no action has been taken regarding charter of demands of Safaikaramcharis as well as other municipal employees. They demanded re-organisation of the JMC, scrapping of NGO system in JMC, deployment of municipal employees in wards instead of parking lots, regularisation of contractual drivers, converting the services of casual labourers as PDLs, enhancement of wages, LIC cover for workers and Safaikaramachis etc.
“If our demands are not redressed within 15 days the municipal administration will be responsible for the protest which is being held on 9th, 11th, 13th and 14th March 2017,” Rinku said. If the demands are not redressed then we will go on indefinite strike from 15th March, he warned.
