Sadhotra takes stock of flood affected Marh areas

JAMMU: To assess the damages caused by the flash floods and incessant rains Minister for Planning Ajay Sadhotra visited the flood affected villages of Marh.
During his extensive tour to Marh, the minister visited various villages including Bhagat Pur, Sandwan, Thumb, Purna de Kotha, Surya Chak, Makwal, Makwal Camp, Alla Mai, Haji De Kotha, Morpur, along Badi Tawi and Niki Tawi and took stock of the damages caused due to recent heavy rains and flash floods. He exhorted upon the officers to provide all facilities like food, safe shelter, etc to flood affected people and provide every help whatsoever required to them.
Accompanied by senior officers of Flood Control and other concerned Departments, Sadhotra directed to show promptness in assessment of flood damage details so that adequate help could be provided to the affected people.
He also took stock of the situation from concerned officers and asked them to prepare a two pronged strategy envisaging immediate relief to the affected people of the area.
While taking round of the villages of Marh block and interacting with affected population, the Minister said that State has a long history of being hit by floods claiming lives and damaging crops, livestock and property, therefore a comprehensive policy taking care of every aspect of flood protection is need of the hour.
He said people must be shifted to safer zones. And once the weather condition becomes stable, the list of affected people with full damages of crops, live stock and property must be prepared by the revenue authorities so that the relief measures are initiated.
