These days every nation is trying to increase its deadly stock of weapons and nuclear arms. It seems that we are sitting on the heap of explosives. No doubt these modern war equipments are mandatory for every nation to give security to the nation .But despite of giving security to a nation now these lethal weapons are creating trouble for every nation. The recent turmoil between Ukraine and Russia is giving more acceleration to this armed race because this blind arms race is gradually converting into a competitive culture among the nations. Every nation is trying to compete with his counterpart and at world platform. Nobody knows when will this conflict between the two nations ended. Both are trying to harm each other but the bitter reality is that their egoistic behavior is creating trouble for rest of the world. World economies are in trembling condition. We can see the devastating impact of this war on small nations like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Many other small states are on the verge of their downfall .The arms race occur when two or more nations participate or compete with each other for gaining the supremacy over other. Now a days, every nation is trying to gain the status of world superpower or to inter into the elite of superpower nations. The nuclear arms race was started during the cold war between United States, Soviet Union and their respective allies. In addition to United States the Soviet Union, France and China developed nuclear weapons during early years of cold war. India tested his first nuclear test in 1974.on 1998 two more nuclear fission was detonated by then Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Government. After that Pakistan had developed its nuclear weapons. At present there are nine countries that have nuclear weapons in the world. These are United States, United Kingdom and Peoples Republic of China, France, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea. Now Iran is trying to gain the status of nuclear nation in the world. On the other hand North Korea is continuously putting threat to other nations through its spontaneous missile tests. Few nuclear power reactor are working in Iran. This blind race of developing nuclear weapons is very harmful for the existence of mankind on this planet, because we have seen the disastrous consequences of nuclear weapons at Hiroshima and Nagasaki during world war 11. The two atomic bombs dropped on Japan in 1945 killed thousands of people within fraction of time. The impact of those atomic bombs can be felt even today in Japan. Several kinds of bodily deformity including genetic problem and other mental abnormalities have been reported after the harmful emissions of radiation. Those atomic bombs are of very low magnitude and capacity as compared to today’s nuclear weapons. These days every nuclear capable nation have developed more lethal nuclear weapons with sufficient stock to destroy the whole world. Moreover, US is the leading exporter of such kind of deadly weapons across the world followed by Russia. Now China is trying to gaining the status of world superpower which is already on the big chair in Asia.China and Pakistan is continuously posing threat for our existence and sovereignty. As a result we are focusing on our security by different weapons deal with other nations. India has tested many missiles test in last few months to counter the hegemony of China and against the dubious design of Pakistan. Now this arms race has been started in Asia which was not in existence earlier. Every country is spending huge amount of money for these weapons and war equipments every year. In Asia subcontinent people are already suffering from poverty and other basic problems. But this blind race of weapons has changed the scenario in Asia with its antagonistic impact. Now those nations who are not in this fray of disaster are feeling insecure, weak and vulnerable. The main reason behind this insecurity among weak nations is due to dominant attitude of world superpowers. World super power nations believe in the strategy of, might is right. This wrong attitude of world superpowers are creating terror and trouble for the weak and less capable nations. Instead of giving support and sense of security to weak and feeble countries the world superpowers are creating an atmosphere of insecurity and instability among these nations. This kind of nefarious and iniquitous agenda is posing great threat to global security. There is an urgent need to look and act for nuclear disarmament .Even the General Secretary of United Nations has raised his voice against this. He asserted, “For the sake of all our security, the world must return to common path towards nuclear disarmament.” Some nations think that nuclear weapons are vital for their security and survival in the world. But the reality is that disarmament of nuclear weapons is very vital for survival of life on this planet. Because we have found that the problem of global terrorism is increasing day by day. Even some nations are working on the agenda and concept of good terrorism and bad terrorism as per their needs and comfort. Imagine what would happen if someday these deadly nuclear weapons fall in the grip of such elements. That will be probably a horrific dream and day for mankind on this planet. Today the entire world is living under the shadow of nuclear catastrophe. No doubt we have made lot of advancement in technology and machinery. But still millions of people are suffering from poverty, health ailments and other basic needs of life. Every year lot of natural catastrophes and devastation like flood, droughts, avalanche, storms, tsunamis and earthquakes etc have affect life of people on this planet. There is an urgent need to fight against such natural disasters to make the life of people comfortable on this planet. We have no right to increase the suffering, agony and pain in the life of millions of aggrieved people. It is foremost duty and responsibility of every block of the world to think towards the suffering of mankind rather than to create a new man made devastation of nuclear arms and lethal weapon on this world. No doubt with the concept and act of disarmament we can solve our conflicts and disputes in a more peaceful and amicable way. Global security will only be possible if world is free from the deadly weapons and there is no arms race between the nations.
