The visit of Russian President V Putin to India and assurance to him by India that Russia will remain the main defence supplier to India has a great significance under the present circumstances. It is important because of change of Government in India and the unfriendly attitude of both the neighbours of India China and Pakistan. Further to it both the countries have signed deals in nuclear power and defence. Russia has always stood by India whenever India needed it. Whether it was Bangladesh creation or US seventh fleet in Indian ocean, Russia was with India in raising its voice against India’s opponents. India should go ahead with making Russia its main helping partner in all the important fields. This will help a lot in keeping all the opponents of India at bay from intruding into its affairs.
