SRINAGAR: Minister for Planning, Ajay Sadhotra informed that funds to the tune of Rs 3,859.72 crore have been released to the districts of the State under District Plan during last two fiscals. He said that out of which Rs 1,887.22 crore have been released during 2012-13 and Rs 1,972.50 crore during 2013-14 under District Plan.
Replying to a question by Mohammad Sharief Niaz in the Legislative Assembly, the minister informed that the data generated by the Planning and Development Department does not recognise constituency as the unit of development.
The minister said that funds to the tune of Rs 14,600 crore have been released under State Plan to different sectors during last two financial years for comprehensive development in all districts.
In reply to the supplementaries, the minister said that allocation of funds under District Plan on Constituency basis as per data generated would be considered. He said that Rs 10 crore has been released under BADP in the State and Education Department has been asked to forward requirement of funds for completion of ongoing school buildings. He said that District Development Board meetings have been started and 75 per cent allocation released under Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Legislators, A.R Veeri, Peer Aafaq, Mohammad Irfan Shah, Advocate Abdul Haq, Rafi Ahmad Mir, G.M Saroori, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Radhey Sham, Syed Bashir Ahmad, Indu Pawar, Krishan Chander Bhagat and M.Y Tarigami raised supplementaries and demanded release of funds on Constituency basis under district sector. They also stressed timely release of funds under State and Centre Plans for completion of ongoing projects besides taking up of new projects in their Constituencies.
