Rs 22,100 realised from defaulters during market check

RAMBAN/REASI/DODA: In various market checking actions, the teams of the concerned department on Tuesday realised Rs 22,100 from the defaulters here on Tuesday.
According to a report, Tehsildar Ramban Dr. Amit Bhagat along with Naib Tehsildar, TSO, EO Municipality, Food Inspector and Inspector Legal Meteorology Ramban conducted surprise market inspection to check the quality and rates of edibles. The fine to the tune of Rs 5,000 was realised from the defaulters and the concerned were directed to strictly adhere to the norms . The market checking was conducted in view of ongoing holy month of Ramzan.
Meanwhile, a team of district administration conducted extensive market checking in Reasi town and charged Rs 2,000 fine from traders found violating the market regulation rules.
The team included officials from CAPD, Food Safety and Legal Metrology Department. The team inspected general stores, mutton and chicken shops, fruit and vegetable vendors, Rehriwalas and sweet shops.
The team destroyed rotten vegetables, fruits and other commodities which were found unfit for human consumption and realised a fine of Rs 2,000 from the erring traders.
Traders and shopkeepers were also warned against sale of rotten and stale sweets. They were asked to maintain hygiene and also to display rate lists at their establishments.
In Doda, Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Doda conducted market checking at Bhadarwah, Doda and Khellani towns and imposed Rs 15,100 fine on traders found violating the J and K Standards of Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act.
The LMD team led by Assistant Controller conducted checking in all major markets of the district and imposed fine on the erring traders.
