RAJOURI: In the wake of number of complaints and criticism over the management and misappropriation of funds, the Rajouri Police have unearthed a scandal of Rs 18,84,663 in distribution of scholarships in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGBSU), Rajouri.
SSP Rajouri Dr. Haseeb Mughal during a press conference said that in response to a written complaint received from the Jammu and Kashmir Bank, an FIR 46/2015 was registered. “To investigate the case, a five-member team headed by SDPO Thannamandi Iftkhar Talib was constituted with SHO Darhal Sub Inspector Mohammad Sharif and three other members”, he told reporters here.
Divulging further, he said that police team found fraudulent transactions amounting over Rs 2 lakh through a bank official namely Aijaj Ahmed Malik posted in its Darhal Branch. This amount was located in the accounts of Shahid Iqbal (Rs 88,300), Mirza Naseeb (Rs31,300) Mohd Majeed (Rs 48,700), Ansal Begum (Rs 15,700), Manzoor Hussain (Rs 31,000) and Sajjad Mehmood (Rs 6,000). SSP said that this amount was transferred in the accounts of Bank Official Aijaj Ahmed Malik and his relatives/friends through BGSBU employee Muzaffar Malik.
The SSP further said that during the investigation a transaction of Rs 13,48,619 also came to light. “Out of this amount, the transaction of Rs 4,28,000 has been traced so far. The payment of said amount is also routed through Darhal Branch of JK Bank while the party in the transaction Kusam Pen and Book House is Rajouri based”, the SSP divulged. He further said that in another transaction Rs 3,22,344 were withdrawn from Bank but without supporting documents as to the disposal of this amount.
The SSP said that the investigation is still in progress and those found involved will not be spared.
