JAMMU: Rotary Club of Jammu City distributed warm clothes among migrant labourers at Labourer hutments near Marble Market, Trikuta Nagar Extension here on Monday.
During the winter clothes distribution camp, the clothes had been brought in by all the members of the Club which include clothes for men, women and children. Blankets were also distributed among the migrant labourers. Speaking on the occasion Arvind Sharma, Sub Judge, Baramulla, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, lauded the efforts of the Club and said that such initiatives at the grassroots level go a long way in helping the people who need support from the society.
Rtn Harpreet Singh, Project Director for Winter Clothes Distribution Camp, said that it was the endeavour of the Club to bring some solace to the people living in the migrant hutments as they are inadequately clothed to face the cold weather.
Anil Swaraj, Secretary, Rotary Club of Jammu City, emphasised the need to reach out to the marginalised sections of the society and said that in future also the Club would be undertaking projects to alleviate the sufferings of the underprivileged.
Ravinder Kaul, President of the Club hoped that the future projects of the Club would also see similar empathy and enthusiasm on the part of all members. Robin Mehta, Adeep Mehta, Sanjeev Vaid, Sanjay Bansal, Sandeep Beri, Gurdev Singh Sodhi, Chaitanya Sharma, Arun Ninawat, Harvinder Singh, Mayank Vaid, Anniet Kour and Aishwarya participated in the camp.
