Rooftop solar scheme, killing two birds with one stone: Dr Parneesh

JAMMU: Dr Parneesh Mahajan, Convener, Department of Training, BJP J&K today applauded the J&K Government for giving nod to the all benevolent Rooftop Solar Scheme by which two burning issues viz power dearth and unemployment will be addressed with extreme efficacy in one go. In a statement issued to media persons, the senior BJP leader asserted that the scheme on cards will kill two birds with one stone and therefore will prove as a ‘Ram Baan’ for the UT of J&K which is struggling to cope up with joblessness and power outage since last many decades. Dr Parneesh said that after the implementation of the Government of India’s Grid-connected Rooftop Solar Scheme, Phase-II for the residential sector in Jammu and Kashmir, all that the electricity needs shall be fulfilled from solar energy. He asserted that the generation of solar energy through the Rooftop Solar Programme will not only help the energy-deficit UT of J&K in supplementing its energy needs but will also assist the DISCOMs in achieving the fixed Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) Targets of 10.5 percent. “Besides, this project will also provide employment opportunities to local youth by engaging highly skilled personnel for business development, design, sales, procurement, and project management”, Dr Parneesh maintained adding that some more job avenues are expected for installation of the panels and to carry out repairs, etc. Dr Parneesh said that this scheme will augur win-win situation for the people in Jammu region and is testimony to the fact that government is keen in ensuring Kayakalp of J&K by taking out of the box steps which many other states and UTs have not yet taken for their population.
