RKJ, JKAACL felicitate Prof BS Bali in Jharokha

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and Radio Kashmir Jammu (RKJ) on Thursday jointly felicitated Prof. B.S Bali, a renowned vocalist in its regular series of interaction and felicitation programme entitled ‘JHAROKHA’ held at KL Saigal Hall, here
Rajinder Kumar Raina, a prominent name in the field of music, was Chief Guest while S.K Malhotra, Senior Programme Head RKJ and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary JKAACL were also present in the presidium.
Born on 20th September, 1940, in the house of Shanta Bali and Surender Singh, Prof. B.S Bali did his graduation from Jammu-Kashmir University and later he did Prabhakar Hindi from Punjab University and MA Music from Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Maha Vidhyalaya, Delhi.
He learnt his basic music from Guru Pt. Brij Lal Sharma and Pt. Ram Prasad. Later he had his advanced learning in music from Bharat Rattan Pt. Bhim Sen Joshi and Pt. Dilip Chandra Vedi.
Giving commendable services in the field of music, he has produced many prominent personalities like V.K Sambyal, Seema Sharma, Kalpana Kesar, Dr. Harish Kaila, Suraj Singh, Deepali Watal, Anupama Sharma, Manjeet Singh and Taniya Gupta who are rendering yeoman services in the music field. He has the distinction of being decorated with numerous awards.
Sharing his view points about the programme, the Chief Guest congratulated Prof. Bali and his family members for recognition of his valuable services which he has rendered throughout his life in field of music.
V.K Sambyal, Former Director, RKJ asked many question related about his long journey in music field with Prof. B.S Bali.
Prof Bali also performed by singing prominent Ragas. Nirmal Vikram a renowned Dogri writer read out detailed paper on the life and works of Prof. Bali whereas Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri in the Academy readout Citation. Anjana, Programme Executive conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Dr. Amn presented vote of thanks. The artists who accompanied Prof Bali include Suraj Singh (Harmonium), Sami Semuel (Tabla) and Soniya (Tanpura). Among those present were Prof. Rita Jatindra, N.D Jamwal, Jung S Verman, Sunil Sharma, K.K Shakir, Udey Chand, Balwinder Singh, Prof Lalit Gupta, Surinder Manhas, Rakesh Anand and Subhash Langeh.
