RKJ, JKAACL felicitate Dr Om Goswami in Jharokha-15

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and Radio Kashmir Jammu (RKJ) on Wednesday jointly felicitated Dr. Om Goswami, renowned writer of Dogri and Hindi languages in a function in KL Saigal Hall, here under its regular series of interaction and felicitation programme ‘Jharokha’.
Gianeshwar Sharma, a prominent Dogri Writer and poet presided over whereas Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary JKAACL, V.K Sambyal, Station Director RKJ and Dr. Om Goswami were also present in the presidium.
Born of 11th September, 1947 in Jammu, Dr. Om Goswami attained his post graduation in Hindi and was awarded Ph.D in Dogri from University of Jammu.
He is considered to be an icon of Dogri and Hindi languages and recipient of a number of best book awards from the JKAACL and a national award for his short story book ‘Sunne Di Chiri’ in 1986.
He is still contributing in both Hindi and Dogri literature in almost all fields of literature.
Dr Om Goswami, former Additional Secretary, JKAACL joined J and K Cultural Academy and edited Sheeraza Hindi and also served as Chief Editor in the dictionary project of Dogri language.
Delivering his presidential address, Gianeshwar Sharma complimented the contribution of Dr Om Goswami and said that he has produced literature in Dogri and Hindi languages and succeeded to introduce Dogri at national level and also to the literature of main stream.
Earlier, delivering welcome address, V.K Sambyal said JKAACL and RKJ have decided to come up with more new programmes in near future.
Gian Singh a renowned Dogri writer presented paper on the life and works of Dr. Om Goswami. Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri in the Academy readout citation.
Dr. Om Goswami highlighted some important moments of his life followed by discussion and interaction.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn whereas Anjana Badyal, Programme Executive RKJ conducted the proceedings of the programme. Among prominent persons present were N.D Jamwal, Mohan Singh, Shiv Dev Singh Susheel, Sita Ram Sapolia, Dr. Kamal Sharma, Sudesh, Sunil Sharma, Santosh Sangra, Shakunt Deepmala, Inder Singh, K.K Shakir, Narinder Bhasin, M.S Kamra, Nirmal Kamal, Raj Kumar Behrupia, Shiv Dev Singh Sushil and L.D Shastri.
