NEW DELHI: Simran Singh, a well-known freelance radio jockey and social media influencer from Jammu and Kashmir, was reportedly found dead in her rented residence in Sector 47, Gurugram. According to PTI, the 25-year-old’s death is suspected to be a suicide, as police found her body hanging in her room on Wednesday (December 25) night. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, as per officials’ statements to the media.
Simran, widely admired as “Jammu Ki Dhadkan” (Heartbeat of Jammu), had garnered a massive following on Instagram, with over six lakh followers. She was celebrated for her engaging radio presence and significant influence online.
The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief among her fans and the Jammu and Kashmir community. Prominent leaders like Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed their sorrow over Simran’s untimely demise.
“Simran’s voice and charisma were a reflection of Jammu and Kashmir’s vibrant spirit,” read a post on JKNC’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. “Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah extended their deepest condolences to Simran’s family, friends, and admirers while praying for her soul to rest in peace and for strength for her loved ones during this heartbreaking time.”
The leaders also acknowledged Simran’s impact on the cultural identity of Jammu and Kashmir, vowing that her contributions would not be forgotten.
The police have reportedly handed over Simran’s body to her family as investigations continue. Her sudden demise leaves a void in the hearts of her fans and followers.
