The people and activists of various organisations gathered near the famous Yashwantrao Maharaj temple this morning and?took oath of ‘Swachhata’ drive after which they started the cleaning operation of the river and its banks in Panchavati area, an official release said.
Garbage and other waste collected by them was taken away in the Nashik Municipal Corporation’s vehicles.
A similar cleaning drive will be taken up on June 5 and July 5 in view of the Kumbh mela, the release said.
The?district administration headed by Collector Dipendra Sinh Kushwaha, Mayor Ashok Murtadak, NMC Commissioner Dr Praveen Gedam, Commissioner of Police S Jagannathan, mela officer Raghunath Gavade and Marathi actor Chinmay Udgirkar also participated in the cleanliness drive.
