Rishi Kumar Koushal is no more

JAMMU: Veteran leader Rishi Kumar Koushal, 91, passed away at Chandigarh on Saturday.
Former MLA Rishi Kumar Koushal is survived by three sons and two daughters. According to family sources, the end of the veteran leader came at Chandigarh residence of his son Dr Vipin Koushal, Dy Medical Superintendent, PGI.
His body is being brought to Jammu for cremation on June 11, 2017 (Sunday) at 4:00 PM at Shakti Nagar Cremation Ground.
Rishi Kumar Koushal, prominent leader of the erstwhile Jan Sangh, now Bharatiya Janata Party, led the agitation to restore the district status for Reasi in the late nineties. His role in carving out Reasi district is still remembered. Way back in 1979, Koushal had kicked off an agitation demanding district status for Reasi, his assembly constituency, vowing that he will not shave his beard till the demand was fulfilled.
