JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday constituted a 6-member Task Force for early and time-bound finalisation of land acquisition cases for construction of semi-ring roads around the capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar.
The Divisional Comm-issioners of Jammu and Kashmir will be Chairpersons of the respective Task Force while Deputy Commissioners of concerned districts, Chief Engineer R&B, Project Director, National Highway Authority of India, Additional Commissioner with Divisional Commi-ssioner, Collector Land Acquisition of the concerned district will be members.
According to Government Order No.1108-GAD of 2016 issued by GAD, “Sanction has been accorded to the constitution of Task Force for Kashmir/Jammu Divisions respectively for early and time bound finalization of land acquisition cases for construction of semi-ring roads around Srinagar and Jammu Cities.”
The terms of reference of the Task Force shall be to take all necessary steps for quick and time-bound finalization of land acquisition cases related to construction of two semi-ring roads around Srinagar/Jammu Cities; follow-up the land acquisition cases at various levels; project the requirement of funds for land acquisition to NHAI/Public Works (R&B) Department from time to time; liaise with the concerned Departments/Organizations of State/ Central Government as may be necessary for quick disposal of land acquisition cases and to review and monitor the progress of land acquisition on monthly basis including the position of receipt of funds disbursements made to rightful land owners and report progress to Planning Development & Monitoring Department/Revenue Department /Public Works (R&B) Department under intimation to NHAI. The Task Force will be free to co-opt any other officer(s) as may be required for its smooth functioning.
The Committee shall be serviced by the Public Works (R&B), the GAD order states.
The ring roads have been mooted to ease chronic traffic congestion in the twin capital cities.
