Ricky Club wins Volleyball trophy

JAMMU: A two-day volleyball tournament organised by Pindi Charaka Panchayat Committee Arnia with support from the J&K Sports Council near International Border (IB), concluded on Monday.
A total of 18 teams comprising of players of villages along with International Border participated in the tournament.
Ricky Volleyball Club emerged as the winner in a keenly fought final by defeating KP Volleyball Club.
Ranjeet Kalra, Member J&K Sports Council gave away the trophies to the winners and distributed medals among the players.
Neelam Singh Sarpanch Pindi Charaka Panchayat along with Naib Sarpanch Kuldeep Raj and prominent people of the area expressed gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha (President of J&K Sports Council) for his ‘Har Din Khel Sab Ke Liye Khel’ initiative and Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gul for helping the organising Committee in the organisation of the Volleyball Tournament on the zero line, International Border Arnia, Sector.
Ranjeet Kalra assured the Panchayat office bearers and sports clubs of J&K Sports Council’s support in their future sporting initiatives as well.
Kalra also informed the large gathering of enthusiastic sports lovers of the various initiatives being undertaken by the Sports Council especially those undertaken under LG Manoj Sinha’s “My Youth My Pride” sports programme.
The tournament was organised in the memory of Late Rakesh Singh (Sunny), a popular volleyball player of the area.
Late Rakesh Singh’s father Ex serviceman Ram Singh also expressed gratitude to the Sports Council and organising committee for organising the tournament in the memory of his son who was a national level player.
“Tournaments like these organised with support from the Sports Council would not only promote talented sportspersons but would also keep the youth away from the menace of drugs,” Ram Singh said.
Prominent persons present were Kamal Kumar, Tarsem Lal Sangra, Prabhat Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Ghar Singh, Roop Lal, Sat Paul, Sachan Sharma, Sushil Singh Charak Chairman NDA, Bunny Sharma, Karan Singh Bantu and Vicky Kumar.
