JAMMU: Expressing resentment over the government decision of terminating Anganwadi workers and helpers, a large number of Anganwadi workers under the banner of J and K National Trade Union Front (NTUF) held a protest in front of Press Club Jammu on Wednesday.
“Prior to 1999 all such appointments were to be made by CDPO in ICDS and later on they were promoted as Supervisor also,” the protesting workers said adding that authorities who during this long period miserably failed to fulfill the required procedure for no fault of Anganwadi workers and helpers.
State President, J and K National Trade Union Front, Mohammad Gafoor Dar condemned the callous attitude of the State Government.
Dar appealed to the Chief Minister and concerned minister to intervene personally in the matter and instruct concerned authorities to revoke such order.
Gafoor Dar declared that High Court has given interim relief for three weeks to the 121 workers and helpers working in ICDS Jammu who were petitioners. He appealed to the workers and helpers working in ICDS in J&K State to come on streets and organize protest demonstrations at all the District Headquarters against such order to press the state Government for it immediate withdrawal.
He said the protest will continue till the withdrawal of the order.
Mehjabeen, Rajinder Kumar, Suman, Rachna, Sunita, Princy Bhatt, Bilwinder Kaur, Zaida Akhter, Aruna, Komal, Shahida Parveen, Naida, Aruna and Vikramjeet Singh were also resent.
