Dear Editor,
Rightly, the Nehru-Gandhi family took full command of the Indian economy and nearly choked it to death. However, it was PV Narsimha Rao who, in the 1990s with his chosen Finance Minister Manmohan Singh, brought the much-needed breath of fresh air by bringing economic reforms.
This flourished under the Prime Ministership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. While Vajpayee brought the first generation of economic reforms, the task of bringing in the second generation reforms has been effectively taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
