Retired Doctor, his brother among 4 killed, 1 injured after vehicle plugs into Chenab River

Bhadarwah: In a tragic road accident, a 67 year old doctor and his younger brother among 4 persons were killed, while 1 got injured after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and after rolling down 300 ft landed on the banks of river Chenab at Raggi Nallah on Batote-Kishtwar 244 National Highway in JK’s Doda district on Monday evening.
Police, Ababeel & Al-khair volunteers and locals immediately rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
While confirming the incident, SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, who is personally leading the rescue operation, said that a vehicle was on it’s way from Pul-Doda to Jammu, when the driver lost control reportedly while overtaking another vehicle in over speeding and the vehicle skidded off the road and fell into River Chenab.
“4 bodies have been retrieved and one injured was shifted to GMC Doda,” SSP informed, saying that the reason behind accident is said to over speeding.
The deceased have been identified as Parshad (60) son of Amar Nath; his brother Ved Prakash (67), Roda Devi (52) wife of Om Prasad residents of Gajoth Bhalla and Raj Kumari (56) wife of Ram Rattan resident of Bharasu.
Meanwhile DDC Vice-Chairperson Doda Sangeeta Bhagat expressed deep sorrow over the accident and prayed for the eternal peace to departed souls and early recovery to injured.
