Retired cops stage protest, seek justice

JAMMU: All J and K Retired Police NGO and ORS Personal Forum on Wednesday staged a protest against the State Government claiming that the Government Order number 229-F of 2014 was in violation of the High Court order, contempt SWP number 277/2009.

Carrying banners and placards, they raised slogans against the discriminatory order.

While addressing the protesters, president of the Forum, Ajit Singh lamented that no relief has been provided to the retired police personnel, who were fighting this case since 1996.

The government has played a cruel joke with retired policemen, he said and added that they will not tolerate this. He warned to intensify their struggle if their demands are not solve.

They demanded enhancement of medical allowance from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000, free of cost medicines and treatment should be provided to the retired police personnel from the Police Hospitals, reimbursement of medical bills be provided to the police retirees and 15 per cent quota should be reserved for the wards of police personnel in recruitment of Police Department and professional courses.

Forum also formed Poonch district body with Surjeet Singh as President, Gita Parshad Senior Vice-President, Jabahar Malik Vice-President, Maqsood Khan General Secretary, Gh. Mohi-Udin Secretary, Sher Khan Organizer, Prem Singh as Media Advisor.
