JAMMU: The residents of Rajeev Nagar area of Jammu City on Sunday staged protest against the police department alleging its failure on curbing the drug menace.
Pertinent to mention here that Rahil, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Rajeev Nagar has lost his life due to consumption of drugs.
The residents assembled at Narwal Chowk and blocked the National Highway demanding stern action against the drug mafia.
According to locals, three youths of Rajeev Nagar were found unconscious in the park near Mahamaya Mandir at about 2:00 PM. The locals shifted them to the Government Medical College Jammu wherein the doctors declared Rahil as brought dead while others were critical. The residents alleged that the reason of death is consumption of drugs.
They mentioned that many times they approached the police department and apprise about the rising of drug menace in the area but nothing has been done in this regard. They appealed to the district administration to take necessary action in this regard and put the culprits behind the bars.
