POONCH : Residents of Mohalla Purani Poonch held a protest against Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department for non-availability of power and drinking water in the area.
The protest was led by Onkar Singh President Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Purani Poonch. He said that due non-availability of power the entire Purani Poonch area is without water and the people are forced to collect untreated and contaminated water from the river side.
He further said that on one hand the people of this area are victims of flash floods and on the other hand the departments responsible for essential services have gone to deep slumber. They appealed to the District Development Commissioner to issue suitable instructions to the concerned departments to restore these services.
