Dear editor,
Through medium of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the attention of all political parties of India those have been using and implementing reservation to gain political benefits. It is very strange that only some influential groups of reserved categories avail the benefits of reservation at the cost of deserving ones of their own caste. In a sense the reservation has become the monopoly of the rich and resourceful persous of the reserved caste. In today’s India any ethnic group could get reservation provided they have a big vote bank which could threaten the existence of government and the nation. We have an example of it in Haryana where Jats were able to get reservation. In Gujarat, Patidars (Patels) would get reservation if they create big law and order problem in the state and challenge the existence of Gujarat Government and political party. Today reservation has got nothing to do with social justice and welfare of backward classes. Supreme Court of India has categorically said that Article 15(4)& 16(4) need to be redefined in its verdict against Jat reservation. In verdict it was said that only caste and social justice can not be sole criteria for reservation. Today caste reservation is not an effective tool of social justice. In OBC categories there are some ethnic groups who are rich, educated and have strong position in the society such as Yadavs of UP and Bihar, Meenas and Gurjers of Rajasthan and Jats of Haryana. They are so strong as on to date they don’t allow other ethnic groups of OBC to get the benefit of reservation and the same is the condition of SC / STs. If Govt of India doesn’t consider socio _economic condition of all castes and religions for reservation there is every possibility that reservation and divisive vote bank politics which is fraught with danger of fragmenting India into bits and pieces, will impede peace progress and development. The Government of India should end existing system of reservation and provisions be made for the uplift of the poor needy and deserving of all castes, otherwise country could face protests and agitations time and again. Nation would pay the price of illusionary vision of selfish, adamant, undemocratic, Greedy and self centered political leaders who are more interested in raising their own salaries rather welfare of people. Reservation is N Bomb that is likely to explode at any time. Nation is under the danger of fragmentation, division and destruction. May God save the nation from this.
Last but not the least I request all political parties to come on one platform in order to review the the existing reservation policy for the sake of national unity and integrity.
