SRINAGAR: Chairman Kashmir Society Khwaja Farooq Renzushah on Tuesday urged Government to rename the famous tourist destination of Srinagar viz Nehru Park as Guru Park, to give tribute to G.M Guru, who gave his life while rescuing the tourists in river Jhelum near shrines of Shah-i-Hamdan and Hazrat Bulbul Shah. Interacting with bereaved family, Renzushah said that the best way of projecting to world the element of sacrifice of Guru is to change the name of Nehru Park to Guru Park. He appealed to Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to utilize his powers by inscribing the change of name of Nehru Park to Guru Park in the Revenue Records. Meanwhile, the suggestion received widespread support frm different quarters including President of Chambers and Commerce Mushtaq Wani, President of Economic Alliance Mohammad Yaseen, President of J&K Press Association Ghulam Hassan Kaloo etc.
