Remain vigilant during R-Day celebrations: IGP asks officers

JAMMU: Ahead of the Republic Day function, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Danesh Rana exhorted the officers to remain extremely vigilant and alert during the coming Republic Day celebration.
For the celebration to be peaceful, he said, it is imperative to launch sustained offensive against the anti-national and anti-social elements.
IGP was interacting DIGs and SSsP of Jammu District besides Paramilitary Forces and Central Intelligence Agencies in a preparatory meeting held, here on Wednesday.
A detailed briefing was given by the army, BSF, CRPF, intelligence agencies in view of the present security scenario and recent militancy related incidents particularly in District Jammu.
A team of officers comprising, SSP Jammu, SSP Security and SP Traffic City Jammu, have been tasked with the responsibility of visiting the venue of Republic Day function and take security measures to secure the place, besides SP traffic has been directed to make proper traffic plan and to ensure uninterrupted movement of public transport/private vehicles along with smooth movement of protect persons.
He was advised to give wide publicity through print and electronic media to avoid any inconvenience to the general public.
IGP also directed to ensure proper security arrangements in and around MAM Stadium, Jammu and impressed upon all the officers to ensure that elaborate security arrangements are made and all security precautions taken with regard to the graceful and successful conduct of Republic Day functions throughout Jammu Zone.
In the meeting, a need for coordination among sister agencies was felt in timely sharing of intelligence related information and to ensure fool-proof security arrangements for VVIP’s and other participants.
Moreover, Rana directed the officers present in the meeting that the GO’s and concerned ZOs and SOs deployed for Republic Day function should be directed to supervise night patrolling, strengthen nakas and launch search operations at suspected areas and other places to make the function incident free.
