JAMMU: Calling for a collective fight against elements inimical to peace and pluralistic ethos, National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana on Monday said religious and regional polarisation is dangerous for a sensitive State like Jammu and Kashmir.
“Lately, a disturbing situation is being perpetrated to divide the society to divert public attention from political compromises made to remain glued to power”, Rana said while inaugurating a community hall, constructed under CDF, at Katal Batal in Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
Among others Shri Shri 108 Gurdeep Singhji Maharaj was also present on the occasion.
Rana said people in general and the National Conference in particular will not allow such a situation to develop. “We have all along been against the politics of hate and divide”, he said while resolving to fight from the front all such elements who will attempt to create wedge between different segments of society for their petty political gains. He also carved out a huge role for spiritual organisations to offset the growing tendencies of mistrust and hatred by further strengthening bonds of amity and brotherhood. He said all religions preach love and compassion and those promote hatred in the name of religion were not only deceiving themselves but doing disservice to humanity at large.
He asked the huge congregation, present on the occasion, to deal with their co-brethren with dignity, which is essence of all the religions, and spread the message of love and tranquility. In this regard he referred to the pioneering role of Guru Ravi Dassji and said his message of love, non-violence and respect for human beings irrespective of their caste and creed will always inspire the generations.
Referring to the time tested traditions and great secular ethos of Jammu and Kashmir; he said the people have lived to these traditions by maintaining amity and brotherhood despite grave provocations. This spirit, he said, is not only to be preserved but also passed on to the posterity to sustain the harmonious growth the the society as a whole. He called upon the people to work for social justice and class society that remained the essence of the teachings of saints like Guru Ravi Dass.
