Release detained YRS leaders, remove Sarore toll plaza: Ex Dy CM

AKHNOOR: Former Deputy Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader, Tara Chand on Friday took out a massive protest in Akhnoor against authoritarian attitude of the present dispensation for detaining the Yuva Rajput Sabha leaders over the issue of removal of Sarore toll plaza, besides opposing property tax and smart meters apart from other burning issues of public.
Tara led a large gathering of public and Congress workers from Sungal mode to Fawara Chowk in Akhnoor to lodge strong protest against the BJP government at the Centre and the UT administration for adopting indifferent and authoritarian approach towards the general public and their grievances.
Prominent who took part included Lala Bansi Lal-Block President, Ankush Dubey-City President, Jagdish Raj-DDC, Santosh Manhas, Jagatar Singh, Hans Raj Bhagat, Sarpanch Bachan Singh, Sarpanch Bachan Lal, Retaish Gupta, Mrs.Rashi Pawar, Sanjeev Kumar, Retd. Lectr. Rashpal Singh, Jarnail Singh, Ashok Kumar Bhagat, Vijay Kumar, Chaggar Singh and Som Nath.
The protestors demanded immediate release of detained youth besides withdrawal of draconian and anti poor orders, failing which the Jan Andolan shall be intensified.
Addressing the gathering, Tara Chand lambasted the BJP government for harassing the poor in every respect when the common man is unable to meet both ends in the unprecedented price rise and record unemployment.
After abrogation of special status, the lands of poor being snatched, the protection to jobs is gone and there are no jobs in government and private sector, he said adding that in this situation the BJP government and UT administration is putting additional burden of all sorts of taxes on poor.
He said when people raise their voice, they are booked on frivolous charges and crushed to suppress the voice of people.
The common masses are up in arms now to fight against the authoritarian approach of the BJP government.
Former Deputy Chief Minister asked the people to peacefully strengthen the ongoing movement to launch Jan Andolan against the anti people policies of the government.
