Relationship with Kiran Bedi ‘cordial’: Narayanasamy

Puducherry:- A day after Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said she would quit her post alleging “lack of cooperation” to her Clean Puducherry Mission, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today claimed his government’s relations with her were “cordial” and they were “fully cooperating”.

“The government’s relations with the Lt Governor were cordial. The government was inclined to provide transparent and corruption free administration. There is full-fledged cooperation from officials and employees (to Bedi),” he told reporters here.

Bedi and the Puducherry government have common goals, aimed at creating a clean and development-oriented Puducherry through a cordial relationship, he said.

“The Lt Governor and the Puducherry government are working together to achieve the goal of a clean Puducherry and ensure that it emerges as an open defecation-free Union Territory,” he said.

“Our ministry aims at having a Union Territory with full-fledged development in every sector,” he said.

Irked by “lack of cooperation” to her ‘Clean Puducherry Mission’, Bedi had yesterday said she would quit her post and leave the Union territory if there is no improvement in the situation.

“I am not here for a job but on a mission. If the mission is not accomplished I will go back. I will quit if you don’t help me make Puducherry clean,” she had said.

Bedi, who had been making week-end visits as part of the Swachh Puducherry Mission, gave the vent to her frustration at a function.

“I have completed so far 20 such visits. Only a few officers accompanied me during my visits to various places and some senior officers and elected representatives refused to cooperate,” she said.

“It is not the job of the Lt Governor alone to clean the streets as it is the job of the people, people’s representatives and officials at large,” she had said.
