Refusing lift, cops manhandle car owner

JAMMU: Panic struck Channi Rama area of Jammu City as a car owner was coerced by two cops who were in civil dress.
The incident took place in the early hours of Friday when the car owner who is a local corporator, Kamal Singh was going to railway station to pick some guests.
Both the youth, who were in civil dress, asked for a lift from Kamal. To show his alertness on seeing the ongoing terror activities, Kamal asked them for showing their identity which led to an argument and one of them assaulted the corporator resulting minor injuries to him.
On seeing the situation, one of the youth managed to flee from the spot and another one was overpowered by the people assembled there.
The locals along with car owner reached the Police Post Narwal wherein the officials admitted the car owner to Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar from where he was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, for further treatment.
In-charge Police Post, Narwal, Mehmood Khan confirmed that both the youth are from police department and were going to Gulshan Ground as they are sports men.
They were identified as Constable Mohammad Iqbal (IR-16) son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Baramulla and Constable Ashiq Hussain (IR 20) son of Nashrullah Khan, resident of Budgam.
The official said that an FIR has been registered against the youths.
