JAMMU : A joint delegation of Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947 represented by ‘Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee’ represented by Gurdev Singh President and Netar Prakash, ‘MJR-47’ represented by J.S Sudan Convener and Suchwant Singh and ‘Chhamb Displaced Persons Association of 1965 and 71’ represented by S.R Nagyal President and Ram Rattan, called on Sat Sharma, MLA and State President of BJP.
The representatives of DP’s in the meeting expressed gratitude for the present dispensation of BJP at the Centre for having felt the pain and miseries of DPs and making announcement of Rs. 2,000 crore as a part of package by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
They stressed upon various significant issues of the package and urged upon the govt. to redesign a comprehensive road map for the total quantum of relief compensation and its significant components recommended by the Joint Parliam-entary Committee (JPC) to end the confusion and chaos among the DPs. The representative said that they had taken this amount of Rs 2,000 crore as part payment of the package and it was also reaffirmed by the MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh in a statement that the released amount was not the final payment. But contrary to this the DPs are being asked to sign an affidavit on the basis of a suggestive notification issued by the DC Jammu on 19 March, 2016 prior to release of this amount, accepting this amount of Rs 5.5 lakh as full and final payment. The delegation demanded that a new notification as per the discussions made with Divisional Commissioner at length, should be issued overruling the DC’s earlier letter which has created confusions.
They further urged that the Govt should come forward with decision with regard to the most significant components of employment package and reservation for their wards.
