JAMMU: Wrestler Reezak of Mallerkotla in Punjab and Diller Khan of J&K Police shared Rs one lakh annual Bambyal (Nagrota) Dangal title after the contest between top wrestlers remained undecided after 26 minutes of close contest at village Bambyal in district Jammu.
Annual Bambyal Dangal was organized by Bambyal Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Bashir Ahmed Kohli (president), Dr. Manzoor Hussain and Kartar Chand.
Former Joint Secretary of J&K State Sports Council and president of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma was chief guest in this day-long indigenous sports event.
President Yuva Rajput Sabha Vikram Singh Chib and former president Yuva Rajput Sabha Rajan Singh were the guests of honour. Other prominent persons present were Ishfaq Ahmed (Sub-Inspector), Balbir Singh (SAI) and Sumit Singh of Nagrota.
The second main bout won by Fiza of J&K Police (Billawar), who defeated Sujay of Rohtak in Haryana. Winner Fiza awarded with cash prize of Rs. 45,000 while runners-up, Sujay got Rs. 30,000.
In third main bout, Shubam of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi defeated Akib of Billowar (Kathua) to receive Rs 20,000 cash prize. Runners-up, Shubam presented Rs 11,000.
To encourage wrestling among female, a woman bout also took place wherein Tanu Rajput of CCS University Meerut in Uttar Pradesh outplayed Pooja Rani of Prem Nath Akhara, Sabzi Mandi Delhi. This bout was won by Tanu Rajput to be awarded Rs 10,000 cash. Pooja Rani got Rs 6,000 being runners-up.
In all, 45 bouts were played in this day-long dangal and the organisers spend Rs 3,50,000 as cash prizes on the contesting wrestlers.
Members of Bambyal Dangal Committee who helped in smooth conduct of dangal were Bashir Ahmed Kohli, Dr, Manzoor Hussain, Kartar Chand, Sher Singh Numberdar, Randeep Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Hamid Khan, Mohd Deen, Farooq Mohd., Sham lal, farooq Ahmed, Des Raj Bral, Alib Hussain, Sanjay Kumar, Pawan Kumar Master, Babu Pahalwan, Vijay Kumar, Gaffar Mohd, Jagdish Sharma, Ajit Raj Fouji and Rattan Lal.
