REASI: In view of the upcoming Assembly elections, Reasi district administration, too, is gearing itself up to make sure the elections are held peacefully.
Emphasis in this initial stage is to ensure that the Model Code of conduct and the guidelines laid by the Election Commission of India and Chief Election Officer J and K are adhered to and the administrative employees are given full knowledge and briefing about these norms
District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Reasi- Shabir Ahmad Bhatt convened a meeting of all Returning Officers(RO) and nodal officers to review the arrangements put in place for various election related events and outlining the functioning of various cells, departments, teams and squads. Matters pertaining to Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) were also discussed which consists of trainings and workshops regarding participation of maximum eligible electors in the electoral process. Underling the importance of training on all aspects of election related issued DEO asked for conducting weekly reviews about preparedness of officials.
Sensitising the Nodal Officers about their assigned role, the DEO emphasised for coordination at all levels to have impartial and transparent election in the district. The Model Code of Conduct has been enforced strictly and a detailed blue print has been devised across the district to make the ensuing elections free and fair, DEO informed. He further asked officers to gear up the electoral awareness campaign that has been ongoing in the district under SVEEP for the last few months.
Additional Deputy Commissioner-Shiv Kumar Gupta, RO-57, RO-58,RO-59, SDM Katra-Anil Kumar, DTO-Mukesh Sharma, GM DIC-Krishan Lal, ARTO-Rajesh Gupta, PO DRDA-Dr Jagdish Mehra , AD-Manu Hansa, DIO, Tehsildars, Chief Agriculture and Chief Horticulture Officers attended the meeting.
The district Reasi is going to poll on 2nd December, 2014 in second phase for three Assembly seats.
