RBI to issue Rs 10, Rs 100 banknotes without inset letter

JAMMU: The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue banknotes of Rs 10 and Rs 100 denominations without inset letter.
The banknotes bearing signature of RBI Governor Raghuram G Rajan, will also have the year of printing ‘2016’ printed on the reverse, RBI said in a release.
“The design of these banknotes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the Rs 10 and Rs 100 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 issued earlier”, it added.
The banknotes will also have on the obverse, both the number panels in the ascending size from left to right while, the first three alpha-numeric characters (prefix) will remain constant in size, it further said.
All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 10 and Rs 100 issued by the bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.
