DODA: Ex-Minister for Roads and Buildings and General Secretary JKPCC Abdul Majid Wani resented shortage of ration and other essential commodities in entire Doda Constituency.
Situation is appalling. BJP-PDP Government is more interested in transfers and postings on communal and sectarian lines while this backward and constituency of poor people is facing drought like situation with water and ration missing, said Wani.
On his tour of Belli, Kulhand, Dali, Bhagla, Bharat, Seil, Bhandas, All, Zhand, Kalihand, Butbaggi, Khoonu, Dachnan, Gundna and Marmat areas of Doda Constituency; people informed Wani about shortage of ration and other essential commodities, and said that State Government has virtually left them at the mercy of God.
He said ministers and MLAs of the PDP-BJP Government are more interested in photo-sessions and cutting ribbons of the projects which were started by the previous Congress government in the State, caring little about the poor people of Doda Constituency. Wani said most of the PHE schemes which were started or inaugurated or made functional by previous Congress Government are lying defunct.
People do not have even a drop of safe water to drink and the State Government is making exaggerated claims of having redressed the situation, said Wani. He also expressed dismay over sad state of the State treasuries which he said were running dry. Contractors have been left at the mercy of God while the labourers have no means of livelihood since money is not available in the treasuries, said Wani.
He said huge labourer class lives in Doda Constituency.
This new government has instead of addressing the issue of unemployment increased the number of unemployed youth by being unable to keep treasuries functional, said Wani.
He also criticised State Government for extreme power crisis in erstwhile District Doda.
