Ranji Trophy Group-A: Confident start by J&K against Mumbai

JAMMU: Led by international cricketer, Parveez Rasool with having confident Shubam Khajuria and seasoned Ram Dayal to their side, Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday surprised formidable side of Mumbai by restricting them to 236 runs in the first innings and then making it a fine start bringing the total to 88 for one at the end of opening day play in the Ranji Trophy Group-A tie got underway at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Young Shubam and Bandeep Singh were at the crease with 47 and 34 runs in their respective accounts with team’s score on board 88 for the loss of one wicket in 29 overs.
Earlier, Mumbai were bundled out for 236 runs in 61 overs, courtesy brilliant bowling spells from vice-captain, Ram Dayal and Waseem Raza, who shared three wickets each. Skipper, Parveez Rasool bowled economical spell taking away two wickets while Samiullah Beigh and Umar Nazir shared apiece each.
After a good start of 51 for one, Mumbai kept on losing wickets to the opponent pacers on regular intervals to make it an end at 236 in the post tea session. Skipper, SA Yadav was only batsman, who completed his half century (57) before he was bowled by Waseem Raza.
In reply, J and K made a superb start with young Shubam Khajuria hitting two tall sixes and five boundaries surprising the experienced Mumbai bowlers. Shubam was batting at 47 with Bandeep Singh (34) at the end. The only wicket lost by J and K was in the shape of Adil Rishi (04).
Now, J and K needs 148 more runs with nine wickets in hand to match the opponent total.
