JAMMU: J&K’s left-handed opening batsman, Abhinav Puri was adjudged as the player of the match for slamming a masterful century against Tripura in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group-D match at GGM Science College Hostel Ground on Friday.
Rain played spoilsport as it washed out the play today on the last day of the match.
Earlier, in reply to J&K’s big first innings’ total of 446/6 declared, Tripura were struggling at 74/4 at stumps on day-3 yesterday. The fourth day’s play was called off without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield and continuous drizzle, thus the match ended in a draw.
Abhinav Puri apart from showing application, patience, solidity, sublimity and character, showed stellar grit and tenacity to notch up 121 runs off 316 balls, studded with 11 delectable boundaries.
He was presented player of the match award by the Match Referee, Fazil Mohammed in the presence of Brig Anil Kumar, Member-Administration JKCA and the two Umpires of the match namely Pashchim Pathak and Tony Emmatty.
