Rally held to promote road safety

UDHAMPUR: Volunteers and students of various schools of Udhampur town on Monday took out a rally to promote the concept of road safety among the people as a part of the 26th Road Safety Week celebrations based on the theme “Safety is not just slogan its way of life”. The function was organised by the Motor Vehicle Department Udhampur in collaboration with traffic police at Mini Stadium, Udhampur here.
The Assistant Commissioner Revenue Udhampur, Rajiv Magotra who was the Chief Guest on the occasion formally flagged off the rally from Mini Stadium.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Udhampur, Neeraj Sharma, Dy SP (HQ) Gourav Mahajan, Dy SP Traffic, Ram Singh, Station House Officer, Mahesh Sharma, Heads of Driving Institutes, principals, teachers and students were present on the occasion.
The students ere holding banners and placards on safe driving and against drunken driving in the rally which after passing through the main locations of the Udhampur town, finally culminated in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Udhampur.
The ACR urged upon the young generation to observe traffic rules while driving and save the precious lives. He asked them to educate their families as well as neighbours about traffic rules to avoid accidents.
The ARTO stressed on creating maximum awareness among the people particularly driver community about the traffic rules.
