RAJOURI: As part of drive against growing drug menace, District Police Rajouri under Civic Action Programme on Wednesday organized a symposium on “Drug Abuse in New Generation” in collaboration with Cultural & Literary Committee PG College Rajouri, in which students of different Colleges and Schools of District Rajouri participated, under the supervision of Rajeshwar Singh, KPS Sr. Superintendent of Police, Rajouri alongwith Dy.SP Hqrs. Rajouri Hamid Choudhary.
On this occasion, 21 students took part in the symposium and highlighted issues related with drug abuse. In the Senior category , 12 students of four different colleges participated whereas in Junior category, nine students of six Higher Secondary Schools took part.
In senior category Iflak Malik, Govt. P.G. College Rajouri, Tanveer Ahmed, second Sem. HEM College Rajouri and Abaidullah Manzoor, second sem P.G. College Rajouri bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize, respectively whereas in junior category, Miss. Vishali Sharma, class 11th Govt. Girls Model HSS Rajouri, Shaista Hameed, Class 11th HEM HSS Rajouri and Raghav Sudan Class 11th Happy Home HSS Jawharnagar, Rajouri bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
The jury members comprised of Prof Haqeeqat Singh Isher, Dr. Shamim Ahmed Azad and Prof. Asif Aeyaz Lone. Principal Govt. PG College Sh. Shabir Hussain Shah was the chief guest on the occasion and Vice Principal PG College Rajouri Prof. M.K.Waqar was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. All the winners were given Cash prize, Trophy and Certificates.
While speaking on the occasion, SSP Rajouri Rajeshwar Singh, KPS said that it is the duty of every citizen of this country to make the society free from such menace for holistic response and an ideal upbringing of youth is possible only when there is positive intervention by the parents, teachers, religious preachers, elders in the society and last but not the least by the Police. He also informed the participants that Youth Club has already been established in DPL Rajouri to engage youth in sports & other activities so that they may not indulge in drug abuse and other anti-social activities and do not fall prey to the machinations of anti-social elements. Shabir Hussain Shah, Principal PG College Rajouri and Prof. Mohd Iqbal Raina also highlighted the adverse impact of drugs in young generation. The function was also attended by Principals and lecturers of all Schools and Colleges, Dy.SP DAR, SHO PS Rajouri. The teaching faculty highly appreciated the efforts of District Police Rajouri in organizing such event and for taking steps for eradication of Drug menace from the society.
