SRINAGAR: The 15th meeting of Police Academic Council was held at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur (SKPA) on Thursday. Chaired by Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, the meeting took several decisions to enhance standards of police trainings institutions in the State.
At the outset, the meeting discussed action taken report on the decisions made in the previous meetings held in 2014. Progress achieved on these points was tabled in the meeting by Director SKPA, Rajesh Kumar.
While discussing the administrative matters of SKPA and other police trainings institutions, the DGP said that various innovative measures have been taken to enhance the standards of police training institutions in the State. He said that the efforts are bringing good results and our officers and jawans are competent to deliver at any front of policing. New areas of trainings are being focussed to meet the modern challenges in the field of investigation and law and order maintenance.
Rajendra said that besides professional policing, Jammu and Kashmir Police has been playing an important role in disaster management. Present situation demands that our personnel should be capable to deal with emergent situations, like calamities.
The meeting took various decisions to enhance facilities for training staff and the trainees. It was decided that cash rewards would be given to the trainees, who excel during trainings.
He asked the council members to implement the master plans for making the training institutions of high standards with quality training modules. He said that skilled manpower in different subjects would be provided to the institutions and experts from different renowned institutions from the country are invited to deliver special lectures during the indoor trainings, giving the expertise in different areas of professional policing like cyber crime, IT crime and counter terrorism.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADsGP, S.P Vaid and Dilbag Singh, IsGP, Dr. B Srinivas, H.K Lohia, A.G Mir, M.S Salaria, Yoginder Koul, M.A Khan, Mukesh Singh, Danish Rana, S.L Sharma, Jagjit Kumar, S.A Watali and J.P Singh, DIsGP, S.K Gupta, S.A Mujtaba, Parminder Singh and S.A Beig, Principals of Training Institutions, AIG (P) Tahir Sajjad, SP Trainings (PHQ), Bashir Ahmed and other police officers.
