RAJOURI: Rajab Club in men and Manjakote Club in women section emerged champions in the District Rajouri Volleyball Tournament, which held at Sports Stadium, Rajouri under the banner of District Rajouri Volleyball Association.
In the men’s final, Rajab Club defeated Dharamsal 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 while in girls title clash, Manjakote outplayed Patraru. Earlier, in the men’s semifinals, Rajab Club beat Choudhary Club, and Dharamsal trounced Bagnoti Club. Among the individual prizes were Aquib Choudhary (best attacker), Mehmood (best libero), and Shanawaz (best lifter).
In the prize distribution function, DySP Headquarters, Satish Sharma, and DySP Operations, Shami Kumar were the special guests, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams. Special guest, Bashir Ahmed Bakshi, guest of honour Shabir Hussain (Assistant Manager, Sports Stadium Rajouri), and Tariq Khan (joint secretary, Volleyball Association J&K) were also present.
“The championship aimed to promote sports and keep youth away from drugs,” emphasized president of the Volleyball Association, Rajouri, Sajjad Majeed.
