JAMMU: Radio Kashmir Jammu (RKJ) organized Youth Fest in the premises of Government College for Women (GCW) Parade on the occasion of National Youth Day, the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
Organized under the guidance of Station Director V.K Sambyal, the programme was executed by Renu Bhatt and Sumit Sharma.
Sambyal stressed upon the need of youth’s participation in the decision making and also cautioned the youth about the various threats and challenges.
The two-hour long programme was split into three sections starting with Youth Speak wherein the youngsters expressed their opinion about the relevance of Vivekananda’s message in the modern times.
The youngsters who presented their views on the topic to the vociferous applaud of a jam packed house included, Shriya Raina, Satvika Ohri, Meenakshi Manhas, Sakshi Kumari and Shivangi Sharma.
This was followed by an interactive session under the segment “Mind rocks”. Inspiring personalities from various fields not only expressed their views but also replied to the queries of the youth. The topic was Youth Power: Challenges and Solutions. The Dias was shared by prominent thinker Shailender Ghulati, Lotika Khajuria, Mahesh Koul and Neha Sharma with inputs from Station Director.
The last segment, dedicated to the music was directed by Sumit Sharma and arranged by Sunil Sharma evoked exciting response from the entire house as everyone remained on the edge of their seats.
The youth were provided platform to express themselves musically. They rendered classical, light classical, folk in an innovative manner by blending with western and modern sensibilities to strike a chord with the young. The youth also expressed themselves through Rock music by presenting Indi-Rock and western Pop numbers.
Besides Mythya, a group of adolescents called The Hawks also attracted the audience with their skilful music.
The youth displayed a magnetic energy and an abundance of talent living up to the dream of Swami Vivekananda who saw a ray of light in the Youth. That Indian youth is ready to take on the world in every field was clearly evident in RKJ Youth Fest 2015.
The vote of thanks was presented by Programme Executive Renu Bhatt.
Sambyal promised of more such events to the youth in the days to come. He further mentioned that Radio Kashmir Jammu has always remained on the forefront to provide an opportunity to the youth to express their views and talent and everyday three hours are given to youth on F.M 100.3 to use the power of broadcasting and reach out to their peer group. He invited youngsters to be part of this daily programme and explore the possibilities of an inspiring career in broadcasting riding on the opportunity provided by Radio Kashmir Jammu. Principal GCW Parade, Prof. Hemla Aggarwal thanked Radio Kashmir Jammu for bringing this event and radio to the doorsteps of the college and providing the youth an opportunity to participate in broadcasting.
